Fineness modulus of sand (fine aggregate) is an index number which represents the mean size of the particles in sand. It is calculated by performing sieve analysis with standard sieves. The cumulative percentage retained on each sieve is added and subtracted by 100 gives the value of fineness modulus.
ادامه مطلبSieve mesh sizes are based on dimensions of the mesh size opening, or on the number of openings per linear inch. The two major standards governing test sieves and appropriate sizes are ASTM E11 and ISO 565/3310-1, both of which specify parameters for aperture dimensions, mesh size, and statistical variations. Opening sizes and mesh diameters for test sieves are often duplicated between these ...
ادامه مطلبThe wheat grains pass through the Sieve whereas pieces of stone, stalk and husk are left behind. (3) Fine sand is obtained by method of sieving. The Coarse sand having larger particles and pebbles in it is put on a sieve consisting of a big iron was held in slanting position. The fine sand particles pass through the iron mesh and remain behind.
ادامه مطلبSieve Analysis Gravel is made up of three groups of aggregate: stone, sand, and fines. Depending on what the material is to be used for, the ideal blend of these three groups varies greatly. For example, good surface material for a gravel road would need more material passing a #200 sieve than a good base material. There is also a difference in ...

ادامه مطلبI believe you are referring to a material grade for instance sand or silica my guess would be a filter substrate. If that is the case for 34/60 mesh size that would be material with particles going through a 60 mesh (250μm) sieve but not through 34 mesh (500μm) sieve, while 40/100 would be 425 to 150μm . respectively.
