Adjust the crankshaft to align the crankshaft harmonic balancer TDC timing mark with the chassis timing mark. Turn the intake camshaft counter clockwise to adjustment end (24mm open wrench). This will be difficult due to the good vanos seals. Go slowly and rock the camshaft to gain momentum. The oil will be pushed out of the vanos oil chamber.
