The K Perchlorate ppt happens immediately and has very small crystal size with no glinting. Also if you have a solution containing Chlorate + Chloride (no Perchlorate) you may get a ppt similar to Perchlorate (ie. a fine white ppt with no crystal glinting). Using Ethanol instead of water will increase the sensitivity of this test.
